About Dr Pfeiffer

Debbie is a medical graduate from Flinders University of South Australia and a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Breast Physicians (ASBP).


Debbie was a former Director of the BreastScreen Queensland Sunshine Coast Service and the Sunshine Coast Breast Clinic at Buderim, and President of the ASBP.


After  retiring from full-time work in 2016, Debbie worked as a locum in several public and private breast clinics in Queensland and NSW, and now attends BreastCare on a regular monthly basis.


Debbie previously worked for many years in general practice, women’s health  and public mental health services.


From 2005 to 2015, she was Medical Director, BreastScreen Queensland Sunshine Coast, and in 2017-2018, Senior Medical Officer in the Cancer Screening Unit Queensland Health.


Debbie was Executive Director, Division of Medicine for the Sunshine Coast Health and Hospital Service from 2001-2004. Previously, she worked for many years in general practice and public mental health services.


She is especially interested in the psychosocial implications of breast disease for patients and their families, and greatly values the caring multidisciplinary teamwork in practice at BreastCare.


Debbie was an accredited surveyor for BreastScreen Australia and has extensive experience in population screening, diagnostic imaging for breast cancer, quality assurance and program evaluation related to breast screening.


Debbie's broad background in clinical medicine and health administration assists Lungscreen Australia with preparation for participation in a lung cancer screening program.
